CASA ALEGRIA CHILDREN'S CENTER | TUITION SCHEDULES | BROCHURE

St. Vincent's Casa Alegria Children’s Center

alegriaCasa Alegria Children's Center opened in the Fall of 1999 and is dedicated to the development of the whole child between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. The low ratio of child to caregiver allows staff to meet individual needs of children in a group setting. Casa Alegria or "Happy House" creates learning that leads to a system of care based on mutual relationships between teachers and the families of the children in the program.

Our Philosophy
The staff at Casa Alegria respects each child as a unique, capable and competent learner. Our practice is based on the belief that optimal growth takes place when staff encourage and support the social, emotional, physical, creative and cognitive development of each child. Casa Alegria acknowledges that these areas of development are interdependent, value individual children’s’ differences and respond to their particular needs. The Center fosters a positive sense of self for each child by accepting and appreciating all children for who they are. A healthy self concept is the foundation for future growth and is essential for becoming a self-motivated, independent learner. We believe young children learn best through self-initiated activity with concrete objects and builds on previous knowledge during related experiences. Through social interactions with peers, children learn to decenter: to understand another’s point of view and develop empathy. When children are active in their own learning, it assists them in making sense of the world for themselves, construct their own knowledge and become independent thinkers. By being autonomous, or being governed by oneself, by having choices and making decisions, children learn to be responsible for their own learning.

At Casa Alegria, children gain knowledge from all different members of our community; teachers, parents and from their peers. The Center has created an environment of mutual respect where children can experience a healthy and diverse learning environment.

Staff
staffThe teachers at Casa Alegria have knowledge and experience working with children and families and are committed to professional growth.  The staff reflects the values of kindness, compassion, and respect for the uniqueness of each person.
