St. Vincent’s Family Housing
“I have worked hard all my life and have always tried to be a good provider for my family.”
My wife and I, along with our son Benjamin and daughter Alyssa, live in St. Vincent’s Garden’s (Family Housing). We have a three-bedroom apartment, and our children think we are rich. “It is so beautiful here,” they said when we moved in. They are right. We are rich, and it is beautiful. They call it “affordable housing,” and so it is. But, it is not the stereotypical “affordable housing” that you might think. I have worked hard all my life and have always tried to be a good provider for my family. I am a roofer by trade, but times are hard. There is not much construction, and in the best of times, the work is not always regular. My wife has multiple sclerosis, so she cannot work. But, I am grateful that I can still provide for my family with the help of St. Vincent’s. I can afford to live here in this beautiful place, and my family is happy here. My children go to St. Vincent’s Early Childhood Education Center, and it too is “affordable.” But, mostly, it is a joy to see how the teachers greet me in the morning when I bring my precious children to the Center and how my children run and laugh and have fun there. Make a gift. Change a life.
