I looked at many preschools before choosing St. Vincent’s. I chose it because it felt like a place where my child could be happy. It felt like the home away from home that I needed for my child. It was not easy leaving my child at school as I left to go to work.
I felt like I was abandoning my child somehow. But, the teachers assured me she would be okay and they seemed to genuinely care. When I came back at the end of the day, I found my child dirty from the work of her day, and filled with stories of the painting, the dress up, the bugs discovered, the songs sung, and the fun she had. The next day was easier for me to leave my child behind because I knew she had a teacher who cared about her, who filled the day with new things for her to learn, and who walked with me as a partner in this work we do to raise our children.
