My son had been at the St. Vincent’s Early Childhood Education Center for about a month when the teacher told me that she would recommend getting an assessment because my little one did not appear to be developing at a rate that would be expected for his age. It was so hard for me to hear that. I was scared and unsure of what to do. The teacher told me that this would be the best way to get him help early on so that he could overcome any delays or learning difficulties in these early years. She explained that we would learn invaluable information from an assessment about how my son processes information. She said that we could get professionals into St. Vincent’s school to work directly with him during the school day. I learned that recognizing a child’s best way to process information can be used as an improvement tool for all children.
